D’Addario EJ16-3D Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings, Light Tension
What I Like About It:
I’m a D’addario fan. That’s for sure. I very much enjoy the Phosphor Bronze strings specifically because They’re not overly bright. When I play acoustic, I’ve found that I prefer a balanced EQ over something that will make the entire guitar swing primarily to the treble spectrum.
These EJ16 Phosphor Bronze strings go on all my acoustics with a handful of exceptions.
If you need a great, all-around string that will shimmer and shine without making your ears wince, these strings are most certainly a great place to start.
Concerning string size, also known as string gauge, I play 12’s. Either 12-53 or 12-54, depending on the string brand. If you’ve been playing a while, you may already know what you like.
When looking at the listing for the product, you can switch between gauges. Make sure you get the gauge you need!
Additionally, you can choose whether or not to buy them as a single set of 6 or in a multi-pack of 3 or more sets.
If you are just starting out, you may prefer a lighter gauge string such as a set of 11’s or even 10’s.
However, be aware that if you go that route, most acoustics will require a fresh setup. At the very least, you’ll need to adjust the truss rod to accommodate the lighter string tension and get the strings closer to the fingerboard for easier playability.
You can choose how many sets of strings you need, and what string gauge you’d like. If you’re not sure which string gauge to choose, check out our article on how to choose the best acoustic guitar string for you.
All in all, these strings are top shelf, Made-In-The-USA products. Sporting corrosion resistant phosphor bronze, I highly recommend them.
